WordMoves

What is the threshold for what a body must do for an act to communicate?

At what point does the body, through (un)intentioned action and relation to others, speak?

What relationship exists between action and language?

WordMoves is an art card game that seeks to explore these (and more) questions. By asking players to communicate specfic words, phrases, emotions, and ideas with specific bodily gestures, actions and movements, WordMoves exposes the diverse ways through which we communicate. We are now living in times where global diversity and hybrid cultures are becoming more prevalent; and we believe we shouldn’t take our bodily communication skills for granted. One gesture might be considered funny to one culture, and rude to another. WordMoves asks s to re-evaluate how we communicate silently, and lets us imagine how we can communicate with the rest of the world.
